Roles are plentiful, including three Cheshire Cats and dozens of other wonderfully wacky characters.

Production requires Strong Ensembles, Strong Male and Female Leads, All Ages. Roles are plentiful, including three Alices (small, medium & tall), three Cheshire Cats and dozens of other wonderfully wacky characters.

Does my child have to give up all other interests in order to be a part of your program?

Theatre is a big commitment of time and energy.  Each rehearsal builds on the next, so if one is missed, there will not be a "make-up" session. Make sure you review the rehearsal and performance schedules in advance (Read: "What is the commitment?" next ).  Watch for conflicts with soccer, basketball, vacations, birthday parties and other activities.  If there are conflicts, discuss with your child and Director Doug in advance of signing up. Help your child decide which activities are priorities to him/her. Also, pay close attention to the "mandatory" rehearsal dates.

What is the time commitment?

Rehearsals are every Saturday from August 23 to October 25 (Labor Day Saturday August 30 is optional).

Junior Troupers rehearse from 9:00-12:00*

Super Troupers rehearse from 12:30 to 4:00*

*Rehearsal times will be modified as rehearsals progress.

Because of the short rehearsal period (10 weeks), extra rehearsals will be scheduled on many Thursdays (4:15-5:45) & Fridays (4:30-6:00) from Aug 28 & Oct 24. These rehearsals may include music, choreography and blocking. For more detailed rehearsal info, Click here for Rehearsal Schedule   (coming soon).

Will my child get the lead role? (This question is from all you “stage parents”):

Kids On Stage accepts performers at every level.  All you have to do to be in the show is to sign up (until class size is full)! We do not guarantee the “spotlight” for every child, but we do guarantee they will be on stage as much as is possible within the limitations of the show.  Our goal is not to raise up the next American Idol or Oscar winner, but to help performers grow incrementally from where they start.

While there are abundant roles in Alice in Wonderland Jr., principal roles must be "earned" by audition as part of the rehearsal process. We believe that auditioning in front of their peers and the directors gives kids experience and confidence to face their fears of public speaking/singing. While they may not earn a principal role the first time they audition, it is a process that helps develop confidence and which builds on itself every time they audition.

Principal parts include

  • Cheshire Cat 1, 2 & 3
  • Mathilda
  • Alice
  • Tall Alice
  • Small Alice
  • White Rabbit
  • Doorknob
  • DoDo Bird
  • Rock Lobsters
  • Tweedle Dum
  • Tweedle Dee
  • Rose
  • Petunia
  • Lily
  • Violet
  • Daisy
  • Caterpillar
  • Mad Hatter
  • March Hare
  • Royal Cardsmen
  • Queen of Hearts
  • King of Hearts

Auditions will be held Saturday, September 6th during rehearsal.   Yes! During rehearsal (stage parents are asked to go shopping during this time).

Those earning a principal role should be prepared to attend a few extra rehearsals on Thursdays and Fridays.

Where do you Rehearse and Perform?

The first two rehearsals (Aug 23 & 30) are at Grace Lutheran Church/School (404 E. Glenlord near E.P. Clarke)

Subsequent rehearsals are at The Chapel (Multi Purpose Room), 4250 Washington Ave., St. Joseph, just south of Glenlord Rd .

Performances are held at Lakeshore High school Auditorium in Stevensville.
