Liz Conkin

Choreographer for 13 The Musical

Liz

Hello parents, family and friends. My name is Liz Conkin and I'm so happy to be a part of Kids on Stage and helping with the choreography for "13." I graduated from Coloma High School this past May and now attend Central Michigan University studying biology and dance. My love for theater began when I was very young in the production of "Annie" directed by Doug Fordyce and I never looked back since. Most of my childhood Saturday's have been spent working on character roles ranging from Mrs. Potts in "Beauty and the Beast, Jr." to Caitlyn Geller in "Camp Rock, the Musical." I even played the role of a dancing bird in a cage once! In addition to musicals, I've been involved in theater workshops, voice competitions, high school band, and I spent three summers at Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp. However, my true passion has always been dance and I've been very lucky to have found great mentors help me along the way. My experience in dance started like many others with junior classes and developed into advanced technique in Jazz, Contemporary, and Hip Hop at the Citadel Dancer Center and through Berrien County Dancers at Lakeshore High School. I'm very grateful for the opportunity to pass along my knowledge to the cast of "13" and help them give the best performance possible. Being a part of Kids on Stage and other similar productions has been a wonderful part of my life. I've made countless friends during rehearsals, laughing back stage and performing live with other "theater kids" and it's great to watch your children having as much fun as I did. I'm certain they will be beaming after the show and can't wait to hear your applause!

Megan Roth

Choreographer for Flat Stanley Jr.

Megan appeared in Doug's very first production ("A Whole Lotta Faintin' Going On") in1996 when she was 10 years old, and continued with several of the early shows. Megan started studying dance at the age of 12. She was a member of the Berrien County Dancers, Central Michigan University Competitive Poms Club, and Infusion Dance Team. Megan was a cheerleader at Bridgman High School and a Central Michigan University Coed Cheerleader for one year. Megan was honored to be named a Universal Cheerleader Association All Star, and asked to audition for a position on the UCA staff. She most recently appeared in South Pacific at Twin City Players.

Megan has been involved with pageants for 20 years. She has held the titles of Bud Princess 1992, Miss Michigan American Coed 2004 and Miss Southwest Michigan 2009. She competed in Miss Michigan June 2009 and brought home the Miss America Academic Award and the Stacy Essebaggers-Shephard Educational Award.

Megan graduated from Central Michigan University in December 2009 with a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Special Education focusing on Cognitive Impairments and a minor in Child Development. Right now she is teaching preschool at Mars Elementary in Berrien Springs.

Megan enjoys spending time with her family and friends, reading, and scrapbooking. She married her high school sweetheart this past July, and is currently living in St. Joseph with her husband, Kyle. Megan is excited to be a part of Kids on Stage!

Wendy Hoskins

Production Assistant

Wendy Hoskins

Wendy has been working with Kids On Stage since the spring of 2005. As our (Indispensable!) Rehearsal Assistant, she is creative, contributes to the fun, kindly maintains order, attends to hurts and keeps Doug on track. She loves working with children and is a perfect addition to the Kids On Stage philosophy that "the most important thing to do on stage is have fun!" In her spare time, Wendy is a third grade teacher in Berrien Springs, a Girl Scout leader, and helps with coaching. It seems that children are her life and working with them gives her great enjoyment. She loves to see the joy on their faces as they reach the goals they have been working to achieve. Since her nieces and daughter started performing with Doug, Wendy has seen the growth this program has brought the children in her family and other children. She truly believes that her contribution to Kids On Stage is a great way to help children build their self-esteem and to be more outgoing. Kids On Stage is fortunate to have Wendy on staff.
