About Us
Kids On Stage is a performing arts opportunity for school age kids grades 1 thru 12 to grow in
self-confidence and communication skills through the preparation and performance
of high quality musical productions. Through this process children learn
fundamentals of practical theatre, vocal projection, stage presence, basic
choreography and make-up.
Emphasis is placed on the following values:

Doug Fordyce's Kids On Stage is a theatre company dedicated to the development of life
skills in children through the performing arts. Since 1996, as founder and
former director of Children’s Music Workshop, Doug, along with his wife Jeri,
has developed a solid reputation for impacting the lives of children with
personal growth through the performing arts. |

Allie Hoyt
Choreographer |
Allie has been performing with Kids on Stage for the past six years. She's had lead roles such as Jasmine in Aladdin Jr. and Sharpay Evans in HSM2. She was nominated in 2008 for a National Youth Theater award for her portrayal of Gertrude in Seusscial Jr. She has choreographed for KOS Summer Boot Camps, and Godspell Jr. She is currently enrolled in her 8th year of dance, taking Tap, Jazz, Hip Hop, and adding Ballet this past year. Allie graduated from Niles High School where she ran Cross County and Track. She plans to attend Hope College in the fall to receive a bachelors degree in Athletic Training as well as Pre-Physical Therapy. She desires to continue dance in college and possibly become involved in the theater productions also. Kids On Stage is blessed to have such an inspired and talented young leader as part of our team! |
Nora Hipshear

Nora has been active in facilitating education through the arts for many years. Her most recent experiences have included interning at the Grand Rapids Urban Institute for Contemporary Arts "Artworks" program and "UICA Create Studio," assisting and teaching at the St. Joseph Krasl Art Museum for the past few summers, and traveling to Seoul, South Korea for the International Society for Ceramic Arts Education and Exchange Symposium (in conjunction with WOCEF Ceramic Bicentennial Conference) and participating in Artprize with the Contemporary Ceramics Association on a collaborative ceramic installation intended for hands-on engagement with the public. Nora has completed her Bachelor of Fine Arts at Grand Valley State University with an emphasis in ceramics and is working on her teaching certification in art education. She hopes to continue to contribute to the community's awareness and appreciation of the arts through teaching. |
Wendy Hoskins
Production Assistant

Wendy has been working with Kids On Stage since the spring of 2005. As our (Indispensable!) Rehearsal Assistant, she is creative, contributes to the fun, kindly maintains order, attends to hurts and keeps Doug on track. She loves working with children and is a perfect addition to the Kids On Stage philosophy that "the most important thing to do on stage is have fun!" In her spare time, Wendy is a third grade teacher in Berrien Springs, a Girl Scout leader, and helps with coaching. It seems that children are her life and working with them gives her great enjoyment. She loves to see the joy on their faces as they reach the goals they have been working to achieve. Since her nieces and daughter started performing with Doug, Wendy has seen the growth this program has brought the children in her family and other children. She truly believes that her contribution to Kids On Stage is a great way to help children build their self-esteem and to be more outgoing. Kids On Stage is fortunate to have Wendy on staff.
