Trouper News       Beauty & the Beast Jr.                           August 28, 2010

Welcome to Kids On Stage!   We want this to be a fun, educational, exciting time for your child.  We will be glad to address any questions or concerns.  Call us at 269 313-2795 or email us Doug@dougskidsonstage.com or Jeri@dougskidsonstage.com.

So much to do…so little time! We are going to put together this production of Beauty & the Beast Jr (B&B) in NINE weeks! Therefore we will need the kids to be on time and at all rehearsals as much as possible.

TROUPER NEWS You will receive Trouper News via email and web site (Troupers Info Link).    Therefore, check that email and  get in the habit of reading these “Trouper News’s” as this is where you will get the scoop on NEW INFO, CHANGES, things you can help with, etc.  For instance, read the following very carefully…

UPDATES, REMINDERS (or NEW news if you’re NEW to KOS) & more misc stuff:

Music Rehearsal this Thursday Thurs. Sept 2.  4:15-5:45 at the Chapel. We are teaching the music parts and harmony and getting the kids ready for auditions on Saturday, Sept 11.

Also this THURSDAY – Parent Orientation Meeting For those of you who missed Saturday’s Parent Orientation meeting – this Thurs at 5:15.

Friday Rehearsal CANCELLED – We will not have rehearsal Friday, Sept 3.

Music Rehearsal Thurs & Fri, Sept 9 & 10 -  4:15-5:45 at the Chapel.

Audition Form/Contract – Before any child is given a role (principal or chorus), both student and parent must fill out and sign the Audition Contract

WEBSITE @ www.dougskidsonstage.com.  You can also get the Trouper News on the website under Trouper’s Info.

Check for emails from us several times per week.  Especially Friday night or early Saturday morning when we think of last minute stuff!

Please check the KOS Calendar frequently

Hook up with KOS on Facebook

Feel free to come to the last five minutes of rehearsal so the kids can have an “audience” for what they’ve learned each week. P.S. Notice we didn’t say, stay for the whole rehearsal.

Rehearsal CDs – Each performer should have received a rehearsal CD by now. If not, next time be an EARLY BIRD registration. Please have your student begin practicing with their music as soon (and as much) as possible.  It is important for them to learn the music early so they can move on to choreography & blocking. (FYI – Replacement cost for CD’s = $20).

Student Books/Librettos – Are available for $15.  These have all the music plus all the dialogue. We also have Chorus Books for $6 which have music only(no dialogue). These are an optional aid as students should be able to learn the words from coming to rehearsal and listening to the CD.

We have a great deal of music to learn for this production, kids will need to start immediately and work hard at learning the music, over and over!!

VOLUNTEERING:

Kids on Stage OPPORTUNITIES FOR PARENTS!  Our parents make the production better. Volunteers are needed in multiple aspects of this program.

Laura Blaney is our volunteer coordinator and is available at volunteer@dougskidsonstage.com

You can volunteer in several ways:

See Laura Blaney at rehearsals for the next few weeks.  She will have forms to fill out.

Print out the Volunteer form and bring it to rehearsal.

Volunteer online through our web site www.dougskidsonstage.com

Be prepared, there will be some confusion over your assignments…it is because you don’t read your email (but mostly because it’s a lot of work and takes a while for the coordinator to get back to you all, please be patient and ask a lot of questions).

COSTUME COMMITTEE - The Costume Committee will be meeting soon.  Watch the Troupers News for dates and time. Deb Burkett is our Costume Coordinator. She is available at costumes@dougskidsonstage.com

As always, call 313-2795 or email news@dougskidsonstage.com  with your questions, concerns or flattering remarks!
