Allie Hoyt, Choreographer

AllieAllie has been performing with Kids on Stage for the past six years.  She's had lead roles such as Jasmine in Aladdin Jr. and Sharpay Evans in HSM2. She was nominated in 2008 for a National Youth Theater award for her portrayal of Gertrude in Seusscial Jr. She has choreographed for KOS Summer Boot Camps, and Godspell Jr. She is currently enrolled in her 8th year of dance, taking Tap, Jazz, Hip Hop, and adding Ballet this past year.  Allie graduated from Niles High School where she ran Cross County and Track.  She plans to attend Hope College in the fall to receive a bachelors degree in Athletic Training as well as Pre-Physical Therapy. She desires to continue dance in college and possibly become involved in the theater productions also.  Kids On Stage is blessed to have such an inspired and talented young leader as part of our team!

Nora Hipshear

Nora Hipshear, MADD Camp Art Director

Nora has been active in facilitating education through the arts for many years.  Her most recent experiences have included interning at the Grand Rapids Urban Institute for Contemporary Arts "Artworks" program and "UICA Create Studio," assisting and teaching at the St. Joseph Krasl Art Museum for the past few summers, and traveling to Seoul, South Korea for the International Society for Ceramic Arts Education and Exchange Symposium (in conjunction with WOCEF Ceramic Bicentennial Conference) and participating in Artprize with the Contemporary Ceramics Association on a collaborative ceramic installation intended for hands-on engagement with the public.  Nora has completed her Bachelor of Fine Arts at Grand Valley State University with an emphasis in ceramics and is working on her teaching certification in art education.  She hopes to continue to contribute to the community's awareness and appreciation of the arts through teaching.

Maxton Smith is a 20 year old pre-medical student entering into his 3rd year at the University of Michigan. He began performing his freshman year at Lake Michigan Catholic High School and has since held a number of lead and supporting rolls such as; Aladdin in KOS's Aladdin' Jr., Seymore in LMC's Little Shop of Horrors, Harold Hill in LMC's The Music Man, and Horton the Elephant in KOS's Seussical the Musical (for which he won a National Youth Theatre Award for "Outstanding Lead Actor in a Musical"). Max has had a number of years of private vocal lessons and is also a member of the University of Michigan Men's Glee Club, which is one of the most well known and respected male choral groups in the world. Max is excited to be with Kids On Stage this summer because he knows there is no better way to work with such bright and talented young singers!
Patrick Hill Patrick, MADD Camp Counselor

Patrick is 13 years old and going into 8th grade at Lakeshore Middle School this Fall. Patrick has been doing shows with Doug since he was 5 years old. He plays tuba in band, electric bass in jazz band, and is involved in other activities such as choir, honors choir, student council, and was drum major for the middle school marching band this past Fall. Patrick has recieved many scholarships to do activities during the summer from various organizations like Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp and Lakeshore Choir Boosters. Patrick is very excited to work with the kids this week and help them with what may be their first theater experience.
Stuart Coulston Stuart, MADD Camp Counselor
Stuart Stuart is a 15 year-old that will be a sophomore at Niles High School this fall. He has been in 12 shows with Doug. He has also enjoyed performing experiences with Twin City Players, The Tinshop Theatre, Southwestern Michigan College, Four Flags Players, and his church (First Presbyterian Church of Buchanan). He plays trumpet, french horn, and the occasional percussion in his school’s band. Stuart has been taking dance (jazz) for two years and has taken piano and voice lessons on and off for two years.  Mr. Coulston is involved in various activities and hobbies that include Student Council, Football, Soccer, National Junior Honor Society, Yearbook, his school’s news show, Chess Club, Spanish Club, Art Club, Track and Field, 4-H, and Church Choir. He loves working with “the little ones” and looks forward to his second summer of counseling

Chelsea is a freshman at Niles High School. She loves to perform. Chelsea has been in 7 shows with Doug. This year she was involved in her school’s show choir. Three nights a week Chelsea takes dance lessons. This year Chelsea has gotten involved in a trio who travel around the community to sing. Chelsea loves working with kids and is excited to counsel MADD camp.

CJ Smith

 

Cathrine Joan (CJ) will be a Junior at Lake Michigan Catholic High School this fall and is 16 years of age. She has been in seven Kids on Stage programs and several summer boot camps. CJ participates in her high school's spring and fall shows every year and has been a cast member in Children's Music Workshop shows and programs. CJ is a co-founder and member of the Lake Michigan Catholic High School Women's Quartet, often sings in the High School's choir, and has taken singing and dance lessons on and off since she was 10. She has been on the Laker Varsity Cheer Leading Squad for two years and plays the flute in the High School Symphony band. CJ loves to be a leader and role model to children and is absolutely ecstatic about being a counselor at MADD camp this summer and is hoping to help and participate in many more positions with the KOS staff!
