For grades 4 - 9 (fall of 2008)
PRE-REGISTRATION IS MANDATORY
One week session 9:00 - 4:00 each day
Camps take place Monday through Friday at the The Chapel, 4250 Washington Avenue, St. Joseph with a Showcase Friday evening for family and friends at 6:30 at The Chapel.
Bring a lunch and drink each day
Campers will learn what it takes to be a rock/pop "American-Idol-style" performer. They will develop and sharpen skills as an Individual and Ensemble musical performer. The goal of Future Stars Camp is to take each participant to the next level in their ability to perform before others. Students will be critiqued, instructed and encouraged based upon their own skill level. Each student will perform as both a soloist and part of a small ensemble.
Kids On Stage staff work with individual performers throughout the week to bring one number of camper's choice to performance level. All students must arrive with a musical number on a karaoke style background CD and should have their words and music memorized. Background music can be found at www.karaoke.com. Song choice is important to the success of the final performance. (Make sure to look for songs that are fun for yourself as well as the audience). The first day of camp will include a short, "American-Idol-style" audition so come prepared!
Campers must have their song choice approved by the camp director prior to camp (no later than June 16, 2008). Song choice must be age-appropriate, please consider the lyrics carefully when making your song selection.
They will also be formed into teams and learn to work in a musical ensemble by developing the music, creating harmonies and choreography to be performed at the end of the week.
